   Background:

The company first started in 1960 as Creative Ideas to make a machine to make surfboards automatically. When that was finished in 1962 the company started making learning materials called Tooties for children for homes and schools. Gradually schools all over California discovered how useful they were for motivating children to Excel in such areas as behavior, math, reading and science. Tooties are so much fun for all ages that parks and playgrounds were ordering them as well as soon as the Tootie Launcher was perfected. Later came the Tootie Toss and then the Tootie Bounce. Professional baseball teams started using them to improve the hand eye coordination of their players.

Soon techniques were perfected to improve high school and college students. Soon other progressive states were jumping on this marvelous educational bandwagon. Oregon and Washington were among the first and soon followed by Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Texas and Arizona and later Nevada. Then came Canada, Alaska, New York and Connecticut along with South Carolina and Florida. Eventually all the states had equipped their schools with Tooties followed by Mexico, Peru, Sweden, Nederlands and Austria as well as Australia and New Zealand. Soon all the countries of Western Europe had them along with South Africa.

About this time eye doctors discovered how useful they were for helping solve vision related problems and this brought in many more schools and parents who wanted the best for their children at home.

Somewhere along this evolution, teachers and parents were asking if individual children of any age with learning disabilities or other problems such as handicaps could be helped so the Brain Development Center was established to address those problems. As research progressed soon almost any learning disability could be cured in about five to fifteen days regardless of what experts said. With handicapped children of any type it was discovered that almost any of these could be improved fairly quickly depending on the problem and the environment of teachers and parents. We discovered that many parents had already given up over the years and without their active help it was quite likely that those children would fall back. When parents could see the benefits and were willing to actively participate all kinds of miracles were possible.

Dr. John Hanson, who invented this psychological system, has traveled to many parts of the world helping children and adults. The psychological part is called QET for Quick Effective Therapy. This system is so powerful now, that patients requiring years of traditional therapy, could now be cured or dramatically improved in a matter of weeks or months and without drugs.

All along the way the Tooties and related materials were designed to be self-teaching so they could be used at home with minimal training on the part of the parents. Of course with training the results are even better. Parents like this system very much as they can see results even after one week instead of waiting for years for traditional therapy to work.

Normally we don't look for depression and suicidal cases but those we have accepted have turned out very well. Our goal is to have parents bring in their normal, bright children of any age and have us evaluate them to avoid potential problems and to make them even better than they are. As you read these case histories keep in mind that they are specific examples and may or may not be an indication that your case can achieve similar results as everyone is different and has a different environment, both physical and emotional. It is only an indication of what might be possible.

Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Medical Doctors and other Professionals:

There are many excellent professionals available. Finding them can sometimes be quite difficult. Surely you want the best possible help for yourself or your child. Most professionals try to do their best to help but sometimes even the best have their limits just as we do. That is why they often refer difficult cases to others like us. We love difficult cases and usually get good results by working closely with whomever referred you to us. Many times they have done all the preliminary hard work and were on the verge of success but were not able to recognize it and that is why we get called in. We have the knack of putting all the pieces together in different fashions until we get the results desired. It is somewhat like doing a jig saw puzzle.

Leave no stone unturned in resolving your problem. It is hard work to find the right person who has had the right training and experience to solve your problem so don't give up. Perhaps we can help you find the right professionals or you can ask if we can help. We think that the best results are obtained when there is excellent cooperation between the parent and the professional. Don't depend on the professional to do all the work. Offer to help in any way you can. In our work we actively encourage such participation.

   Advice:

Advice is a very difficult subject and involves many emotions. Here are a few examples of human nature which are not related to helping children but give a clue as to the difficulty in offering advice. Try to tell someone about the dangers of smoking, drinking, drugs, overeating, etc. and your advice tends to fall on deaf ears. Stalin was warned many times that he was about to be attacked by Hitler. Not only did he not believe his advisors and follow the advice much to his chagrin but he had the advisors executed. Consider grandparents trying to give advice. Finally they give up in order to preserve peaceful relations with their children. Professionals are wary about the dangers of giving advice so if you want it please ask them. Not all advice, no matter how well intentioned, is good, so like Stalin, you have to be the judge. In his case he almost lost his country to Germany. Your consequences may not be so severe. When we teach teenagers and young adults we try to give them the wisdom of a much older person while they are still young and enthusiastic so they have the benefits of both.

When we advise parents that they should have lots of Tooties for children in the two to ten age range we know they will be delighted with the results if they follow the advice. But it is only advice and you must be the judge. The younger you start the better as the benefits go on for many years, especially if you have more than one child.

Our QET (Quick Effective Therapy) techniques take all these factors into consideration. In addition, we make a visit to the person's home to meet their family, friends and pets to see what their environment is really like and not just what they say. We aren't any smarter than other professionals. We just take a different approach, have lots of experience and skills the others don't have and usually get fantastic results quickly by building on what worked for the other professionals. Even as nice as you might be we don't want to be part of your life forever. Our goal is to make you independent as soon as possible. We have many others who need and want help.

If you wish, fill out the questionnaire and write a couple of pages about yourself or your child and send to us. Please include pictures. Postal snail mail is fine but include your e-mail or fax number so we can respond quickly and follow with snail mail of literature related to your interest.
